Interessengemeinschaft mehrsprachiger Familien
The ImF e.V. promotes bilingual childrearing through lectures, discussion evenings, an "Info-Bank" (a collection of books, articles and materials related to bilingualism in a variety of languages, as well as lists of play-groups, book-shops etc. for bilingual families), and publication of the Polyglot, a quarterly newsletter. In addition, the ImF e.V. works to better inform the general public about the advantages of bilingualism, and to combat misinformed prejudices related to multilingualism.
As a service to non-German-speakers, the ImF e.V. publishes all of its materials in both German and English. Requests for information sheets or copies of the newsletter should always indicate which language is preferred. ImF membership lasts for one year, i.e. until 31 December. Membership for new members who join on or after October 1 of any year will run until December 31 of the following year. To reduce administrative costs, automatic direct debit ("Einzugsermächtigung") is the preferred way to pay the yearly membership fee. Prospective members can contact an ImF board member should an alternative payment method be desired.
As the Interessengemeinschaft mehrsprachiger Familien e.V. has been recognized and approved by the financial authorities as a "community-enhancing", non-profit organization ("gemeinnützig"), all membership fees and donations are tax-deductible. Members and donors will receive a receipt at the end of the year.
